Hi, welcome to my classroom. My name is Mary Jane Grywalski. I am a math teacher at Flat Rock Community High School. I've been teaching at the high school for 16 years. I also taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Wyandotte for 5 years. During those first 5 years of teaching, I also was an adult education instructor for Garden City Public Schools.

I earned my BS in mathematics from Michigan State University and earned a MA in mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. Most recently, I've taken classes that have dealt with differentiation in instruction, teaching through multiple intelligences and community building in the classroom through Marygrove College.

I am a very hands-on teacher. I believe strongly that students learn best when actively engaged in the lesson. Because of this I have the students work on various projects throughout the year. I also love to switch things up a bit and do activities in the halls, gym or outdoors.

On my website you will find classroom rules, procedures and syllabi for Geometry A, Geometry B and Applied Math B including timelines.

General rules and procedures:

Students are expected to behave with respect towards themselves and others. In addition to following the rules and consequences of the student handbook, I also ask that students do not talk while I'm talking or another student is talking. I follow a 4 step discipline policy for students who don't abide by this rule.
