Background Information

I have a Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University majoring in Reading, English Language Arts and History.  This is my 15th year at Simpson Middle School.  The focus of my classroom curriculum is on ancient history and how it applies to civilizations and geographical concepts both in the past and today. 

Students will expand their knowledge of world history by examining how social scientists select, analyze, and organize evidence, and then use that evidence to create accounts that answer questions or problems. We will work in units designed by The Michigan Citizenship Collaborative Curriculum starting with World Geography, History as "events", and finally with historical thinking and validity.

Each student is responsible for being prepared for class. A single subject binder, a pencil or pen, and their student identification and agenda are necessary every day.

The third trimester will focus on empires, trade around the world, and the cultural, religious, economic and political changes globally from the 1300's to the early 1900's.
