Barnes Elementary is a third, fourth and fifth grade school. We have approximately 440 students. In addition to regular instruction in Math, Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies our students receive instruction in Art, Computers, Gym, Music and Spanish each week. VISION STATEMENT It is the primary vision of J.M. Barnes Elementary to partner together as parents, students and staff to provide a high quality, comprehensive and individualized educational experience for all students.
MISSION STATEMENT J.M. Barnes Elementary views students as the primary focus of all decisions. We accept the responsibility of building a solid foundation through quality educational programs and services by encouaging all students to achieve their highest level of academic performance and fostering their social and emotional growth.
BELIEF STATEMENTS
A. We believe in quality educational programs that: 1. Provide a rigorous foundation of core academics 2. Use research-based instructional strategies 3. Utilize relevant, cross-curricular, multi-sensory, and differentiated learning with varied forms of assessment 4. Build up and retain faculty, staff, parents, students and volunteers who are committed to the vision and mission of the school
B. We believe in promoting academic excellence by: 1. Developing well-rounded students who reach their fullest potential by providing meaningful learning opportunities 2. Encouraging critical thinking, study and organizational skills 3. Maintaining high expectations for student achievement 4. Meeting individual student learning needs 5. Expecting students to take ownership for their education
C. We Believe in fostering social and emotional growth by: 1. Nuturing each student's positive self-esteem 2. Promoting high expectations for student conduct in regards to respect, responsibility, and safty 3. Respecting each person for their strengths and weaknesses 4. Establishing outlets for communication to deal with conflicts and problems
